Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria, on January 27, 1756. His father, Leopold Mozart, was a musician and composer, and his mother, Anna Maria Pertl, was a singer. Mozart showed an early talent for music, and by the age of five he was already composing simple pieces.

In 1762, the Mozart family embarked on a tour of Europe. Mozart's performances astonished audiences everywhere he went, and he quickly became known as a child prodigy. In 1764, the family settled in Vienna, where Mozart studied with some of the leading musicians of the day.

In 1770, Mozart was appointed concertmaster to the Archbishop of Salzburg. However, he soon tired of the restrictions of court life, and in 1777 he left Vienna to seek his fortune in other cities.

Mozart's years as a freelance musician were marked by both success and financial difficulty. He composed some of his most famous works during this time, including the operas The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni. However, he also struggled to make ends meet, and he often had to rely on the patronage of wealthy patrons.

In 1782, Mozart married Constanze Weber. The couple had six children, but only two survived to adulthood.

In 1791, Mozart composed his final masterpiece, the Requiem Mass. He died on December 5, 1791, at the age of 35. The cause of his death is still a mystery, but it is believed that he may have died from a combination of rheumatic fever and kidney failure.
